Bronchitis - Fit after recovery
Tuberculosis - Fit 2 years after recovery
Dysentry - Fit after recovery
Allergy (severe) - Permanently unfit
Influenza - Fit after recovery
Bronchiectesis - Permanently unfit
Diabetes - Fit if well controlled (Consult the M.O.)
Embolism - Permanently unfit
Eczema - Fit if not on drugs and if phlebotomy site is clean
Epilepsy - Permanently unfit
Tooth Extraction - Fit after 7 days
Hyperthyroidism - Permanently unfit
Chicken Pox - Fit 3 weeks after recovery
Polycythaemia vera - Permanently unfit
Mumps - Fit 3 weeks after recovery
Cancer Surgery - Permanently unfit
Appendicectomy - Fit after 6 weeks
Minor/trivial fractures - Fit after cure or union of bones
ENT operations - Fit after 6 weeks
Skin diseases - Refer to M.O.
Minor operations - Fit after 6 weeks
Drug abuse - Fit 6 weeks after recovery
Gonorrhoea Fit - 2 months after recovery
Blood transfusion received earlier - Fit after 1 year
Diphtheria Fit - 3 months after recovery
Recent immunization - Refer to M.O.
Pregnancy & Abortion - Fit 3 months after recovery
Previous blood donation - Fit after 3 months
Jaundice Fit - 3 years after recovery
Measles - Fit 3 months after recovery
Tetanus Fit - 6 months after recovery
Herniorrhaphy - Fit after 3 months
Major operations - Fit after 6 months
Malaria - Fit 6 months after recovery
Typhoid - Fit 6 months after recovery
Fractures (major) - Fit after 6 months
Ineffective hepatitis (A) - Fit 3 years after recovery
Asthma (severe) - Permanently unfit
Cardiovascular disorders - Permanently unfit
Emphesema - Permanently unfit
Hepatitis B - Permanently unfit
Hypothyroidism - Permanently unfit
Gastrectomy - Permanently unfit
Syphilis - Fit if fully & properly treated(defer if recent history of exposure)
Coronary artery disease - Fit ONLY IF cardiologist certifies so.
Bleeding tendencies - Refer to M.O.
Alcohol intake - Fit after 12 hours (unless intoxicated)
Currently on drugs - Refer to M.O.
Women in menses - Unfit
Previous refusal as a blood donor - Refer to M.O.
